WILD – San Francisco

Date:

Fourteen young women with disabilities from the San Francisco Bay Area convened for an intensive, two-day training.

Many of the participants were already very involved and passionate activists in their communities. They came from diverse educational and professional backgrounds in fields such as: business, clinical psychology, fashion, finance, fine arts, human rights law, information technology, and sports. Their disabilities were also diverse; health, hearing, learning, physical, psychosocial, and vision disabilities were all represented in the group.

The training was designed to increase leadership skills and disability pride, as well as explore opportunities to launch an international career.

Following the training, MIUSA is providing stipends for graduates to multiply the impact of the workshop by conducting one two-hour session for other girls and women (with and without disabilities) in their communities.

The WILD-San Francisco program was hosted by Mobility International USA (MIUSA) and sponsored by BNY Mellon Foundation.
