About MIUSA International Exchange Programs for People with Disabilities

MIUSA has been pioneering short-term international exchange programs in the US and abroad since 1981, and has worked with people with and without disabilities from over 90 countries. MIUSA offers programs focusing on youth, young adults, parents, professionals and women. MIUSA will work with you to develop individualized exchange programs to support your group's disability rights interests.

History and Overview of MIUSA Exchange Programs

MIUSA has been pioneering short-term international exchange programs in the US and abroad since 1981, and has worked with people with and without disabilities from over 90 countries, including: Azerbaijan, Belarus, China, England, Germany, Japan, Jordan, Mexico, Micronesia, Russia, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Zimbabwe.

Programs provide a unique cross-disability and cross-cultural learning environment.  Program activities include: disability rights and leadership seminars, cross-cultural learning, experiential learning opportunities, living with a homestay family, international community service projects and team building activities.  Participants develop leadership skills, build self-confidence and create strategies for change in their local and global communities.

More than 1,000 people are part of MIUSA's alumni who share their experiences, successes and leadership skills across the globe.  Read personal stories from people who have participated in MIUSA exchange programs.
