U.S./Bahrain Exchanges

Professional Exchange 09 - Loren and RoobaSince 2007, Mobility International USA (MIUSA) has collaborated with partners in the Kingdom of Bahrain for a series of innovative reciprocal exchange programs between Eugene, Oregon, U.S.A. and Manama, Bahrain. These programs bring together professionals, recreation specialist and young leaders with and without disabilities from Bahrain and the United States to foster mutual understanding and respect, exchange information and expertise, build leadership skills and develop strategies for increasing citizen participation and the inclusion of people with disabilities in all aspects of society in the U.S. and the Kingdom of Bahrain.

2010-2011 Reciprocal Exchange Programs

MIUSA is honored to administer the 2010-2011 U.S./Bahrain reciprocal exchange programs to bring together physical education instructors, coaches, community leaders and government officials to expand the capacity of communities to develop strategies for increasing the participation of youth with disabilities in non-elite sports and recreation programs.

In May 2010, MIUSA and the Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation (BDSF) hosted the first program in Eugene, Oregon, U.S.A., which brought together nine professionals from Bahrain representing local and national sports organizations, disabled people's organizations, academic institutions, youth programs and the Ministry of Social Development.

In 2011, MIUSA and BDSF will host the second program in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain, which will bring together U.S. professionals working in fields related to inclusive sports and recreation. Read more about the 2010 and 2011 programs at the below links.
