U.S./China Exchange Programs
2011-2012 Reciprocal Exchange Programs
MIUSA is honored to administer a reciprocal exchange program between the U.S. and China in 2011/2012 to bring together physical education instructors, coaches, community leaders and government officials to expand the capacity of communities to develop strategies for increasing the participation of youth with disabilities in non-elite sports and recreation programs.
In April 2011, MIUSA and the Guangzhou English Training Center for the Handicapped (GETCH) held the first program in Eugene, Oregon, U.S.A. The program will brought together nine non-elite sport and recreation professionals with and without disabilities from China, and one youth with a disability, for the two-week program. In March 2012, MIUSA and GETCH hosted the second program in Guangzhou, China, which brought sport and recreation professionals from the U.S. to China for a reciprocal exchange.
