U.S./Jordan: Young Women with Disabilities Leadership Exchange Programs
2011 in Eugene, Oregon, USA and 2012 in Amman, Jordan
2011-2012 Reciprocal Exchange Programs
MIUSA is honored to coordinate a two-way exchange program to bring together young women with disabilities from Jordan and the U.S. for an intensive program to increase their leadership capacity and develop strategies for increasing the participation of young women with disabilities in society.
The 2011/2012 U.S. Jordan: Young Women with Disabilities Leadership Exchange Programs bring together women with disabilities who are working in Jordan and the U.S. as community leaders, gender advocates or professionals in the fields of education, employment, accessibility, health and fitness, policy, legislation and adaptive recreation. These emerging leaders are building their own leadership skills and increasing the capacity of organizations that they represent to advocate for the empowerment of women and girls with disabilities in Jordan and the U.S.
In fall 2011, nine women with disabilities from Jordan, ages 22 - 35, traveled to Eugene, Oregon, U.S.A. to strengthen their capacity to lead grassroots organizations and advocate for the empowerment of women and girls with disabilities. In 2012, a counterpart group from the U.S. will travel to Jordan for a reciprocal exchange program.
