Employment Strategies Exchange Programs

Mobility International USA (MIUSA) is currently implementing a series of leadership and employment focused programs for people with disabilities. The purpose of the Employment Strategies program is to expand employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Employment policies and job programs are promoted as strategies to ensure that people with disabilities have the opportunity to reach their highest employment potential. These programs also explore ways to make local communities more inclusive and accessible to people with disabilities.

MIUSA’s long and diverse experience has demonstrated that the most successful exchange groups are international, cross-disability and cross-cultural. The Employment Strategies programs include training for emerging and established leaders with and without disabilities from around the world, who are seeking to strengthen leadership and employment skills.

Employment Strategies programs include:

The Employment Strategies programs are generously sponsored by Wal-Mart, the Mike & Lisa Sygall Scholarship Fund of Mobility International USA, and local businesses in Eugene and Springfield, Oregon.

Young Leaders Exchange Programs

These programs bring together young leaders with and without disabilities to foster mutual understanding and respect across cultures, build leadership skills, and increase knowledge of disability rights.

Women’s Leadership Programs

Our signature women’s program is the Women’s Institute on Leadership and Disability (WILD).  WILD brings together new and emerging grassroots women leaders with disabilities from around the world to build skills, exchange experiences and strategies, create new visions and strengthen international networks of support. Through a series of intensive workshops, women move forward in their personal and professional roles as disabled world leaders.

These “WILD Women” truly are changing the world as they return to their countries with new tools and a commitment to address issues of critical importance to women and girls with disabilities. MIUSA has hosted women’s leadership programs in 1997, 2000, 2003, 2006 and will host another in 2008.
