ADVANCED International Leadership, Employment and Disability (I-LEAD) Exchange Program

Programa AVANZADO de Intercambio sobre Liderazgo Internacional, Empleo y Discapacidad (I-LEAD por sus siglas en inglés)

About the Program

The Advanced I-LEAD program provides opportunities for professionals to experience and explore a range of solutions being used in the U.S. to expand employment opportunities for people with disabilities. The program is March 6 - 18, 2010 in Eugene, Oregon, USA.

  • Seminars with city, state or federal government officials on policy and legislation
  • On-site visits to university, college and primary schools and meetings with education professionals
  • Interactive workshops on transportation with representatives on the U.S. Department of Transportation and/or city public transit systems
  • On-site visits and meetings with U.S. employers and businesses hiring people with disabilities
  • Interactive workshops with prominent U.S. disability rights advocates
  • Specialized meetings with U.S. professionals
  • Collaborative action planning sessions
  • Cultural activities

2010 Delegation

This year women and men with and without disabilities who are in high-level or executive decision making positions come to Eugene, Oregon, USA from:

  • Argentina
  • Chile
  • Colombia
  • Costa Rica
  • El Salvador
  • Guatemala
  • Mexico
  • Peru

The 19 delegates include leaders in government, business, higher education, community and disability organizations who demonstrate the capacity and commitment to expand employment opportunities for people with disabilities at the local, regional, national and/or international level. Professionals include people who have visual, hearing, psychosocial, physical and/or no disabilities.
