PROJECT ACTIVITIES:

 

Through the Building an Inclusive Development Community project, MIUSA will promote inclusion of people with disabilities, including women and girls, in all aspects of USAID-funded international development programs. 

 

MIUSA will provide multi-tiered, field-based technical assistance and training to USAID contractors and grantees, local disabled peoples’ organizations, Mission staff and Mission- sponsored programs in Albania, Ecuador, Guatemala and Indonesia.  Each tier is designed to build upon the others, to strengthen relationships, and to promote long-term, sustainable participation by people with disabilities as development participants, staff, partners and decision makers. These tiers include:

 


Field Based Technical Assistance
Intensive, country-specific field-based technical assistance, training and follow-on support will be provided to USAID contractors and grantees; local implementing partners, including disabled people’s organizations; Mission staff and Mission sponsored programs and activities.

 

Capacity Building
Disabled People’s Organizations (DPOs) will participate in training programs designed to strengthen their organizational capacity and advocacy skills to promote and facilitate the inclusion of people with disabilities in development organizations and programs.

 

Relationship Building
E
stablishing and maintaining relationships between development organizations, contractors and disabled people’s organizations is key to sustainable and long-term inclusion. MIUSA will facilitate relationship-building among program stakeholders.

 

Information Dissemination
Updated program successes, challenges and lessons learned will be available to in-country partners and participants, international development and humanitarian assistance organizations, disability and development organizations and USAID Missions.
