Human Resources Toolbox, Building an Inclusive Development Community: Gender Appropriate Technical Assistance to InterAction Member Agencies on Inclusion of People with Disabilities

Publisher: Mobility International USA

Copyright: 2002 Mobility International USA

The Human Resources Toolbox provides information, strategies and resources for development (and other) organizations to become more inclusive in their hiring practices, administration and policies. Topic areas such as inclusive hiring practices, budgeting for inclusion, resources for recruiting and accommodating people with disabilities, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) overview, and guidelines for accessibility in communications and facilities are addressed.

This resource was developed as a response to the needs of international development agencies interested in recruiting Board members, staff, interns and volunteers with disabilities and interested in creating an inclusive office and training environment.

The Human Resources Toolbox focuses on practical tips and resources for organizations looking for strategies to become more inclusive at headquarter offices and though organizational policies. The "budgeting for inclusion" section provides an innovative strategy for ensuring that your organization has the funds it needs to accommodate people with disabilities in both offices and the projects the organization supports.

The Human Resources Toolbox, a MIUSA publication, brings together in one handy reference resources and information useful to fostering an inclusive organizational culture. The Human Resources Toolbox was developed by Mobility International USA as part of its "Building an Inclusive Development Community" project, which is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through its office on Women in Development.
