2010 Gender, Disability and Development Institute (GDDI)

GDDI brings together development professionals and 30 disabled women leaders from Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Eurasia, Latin America and the Middle East. The Institute goes beyond rhetoric and workshops to engage individuals in direct dialogue about strategies for including women with disabilities in development projects throughout the world.

About the Institute:

A typical day at GDDI includes family style meals together, morning workshops, afternoon work groups and consultations, and evening social time for cultural exchange. In characteristically MIUSA style, workshops are interactive and practical, designed to encourage networking, exchange of information and action planning among all participants.

Topics will include (but are not limited to):

  • Inclusive project development
  • Economic empowerment
  • Gender-based violence
  • HIV/AIDS
  • Health
  • Geographic and other sector-based discussions  

Registration instructions:

GDDI attendees must submit a registration form and send $100 USD for the registration fee.  The registration fee includes the cost of local transportation, meals and accommodations for four nights at a beautiful retreat center outside of Eugene, Oregon. Options for partial attendance and scholarships are also available. Please contact us for more details.

The deadline to register is April 15, 2010. Please register early, as space is limited.
