Dreaming, Doing, and Blogging Outreach in Ghana

Anjali Forber-PrattAnjali Forber-Pratt, who has transverse myelitis, is a U.S. Paralympian in Track and Field who competed in the 2008 Beijing Games. More recently, Anjali has come back from the International Paralympic World Championships in New Zealand with one gold and two silver medals

Besides standing out as an athlete, she is also a doctoral student in Human Resource Education at the University of Illinois and demonstrates a strong commitment to disability outreach. She has been involved with international projects in India, Bermuda and more recently, Ghana. The link to her blog covers her nine-day trip to Accra, Ghana, where she conducted wheelchair track clinics and raised the level of awareness on disability policy and education.

Abroad, Anjali seized what she calls "teachable moments" in disability awareness, and used her time to discuss human rights with local leaders. Her blog reflects on how sports can unite people of all abilities and backgrounds and also records close-ups of the personalities she encountered in Accra.

"I’ve never been one who likes traditional rules—and I am changing the world every second I am here."
