Growing Up with a Disability: Costa Rica Cross Cultural/Cross Disability Leadership Exchange
David as a 21-year-old took a year away
from college to work on a project about people with disabilities. He
has been interviewing people about their experiences living with a
disability and records their stories and his reflections on his blog.
David has also been a peer mentor and participant in the Illinois Youth
with Disabilities Leadership Summit. Last year he was awarded the
Justin Dart Jr. “Lead On” Award for demonstrating “strength of
character and leadership potential”. David is
quadriplegic and uses a specialized power wheelchair and a personal
assistant. David shares his Costa Rican adventures on his blog Growing up with a Disability.
