Pursuing a New Overseas Adventure in England

"It kind of seemed like too good an opportunity to pass up," writes Mickey Kay, referring to an internship offer in Bristol, England, which he accepted. This summer, Mick will work with Motivation, a leading international disability and development organization. Motivation's mission is to enhance the quality of life of people with mobility disabilities around the world by supporting their mobility, empowerment and inclusion.

Mick, who has a physical disability and uses a manual wheelchair, is no stranger to finding ways to combine disability inclusion advocacy and international travel. Besides traveling to Bahrain on MIUSA's U.S./Bahrain Inclusive Sports Exchange, Mick has also worked abroad in Guatemala with the Transitions Foundation, which advocates for the rights and social inclusion of Guatemalans with disabilities.

Having blogged about his Bahrain exchange, Mick once again chronicles his international journey in England, this time co-authoring a blog with his travel companion Brit. Visiting London's main attractions, sampling English tea and practicing wheelchair basketball with friends are only a portion of the highlights from their trip, and more are still to come!

Read Mick's blog post "In a New Land." Check out the interactive map features and view photo slideshows of his current and past trips.
