Challenge Yourself and Change the World!®
Mission
To empower people with disabilities around the world to achieve their human rights through international exchange and international development. Mobility International USA is a national non-profit organization based in Eugene, Oregon and was co-founded in 1981 by Susan Sygall and Barbara Williams.
MIUSA is a cross-disability organization serving those with cognitive, hearing, learning, psychiatric, physical, systemic, vision and other disabilities.
National Clearinghouse on Disability and Exchange
Dreams become reality: a young woman using a wheelchair will spend a high school year in England; a college graduate who is blind will teach in Costa Rica; a person with a learning disability will volunteer in the Philippines; a scholar who is Deaf from Kenya will be a Fulbright scholar in the U.S. By building bridges between the international exchange and disability communities, the NCDE encourages people with disabilities to volunteer, research study, and teach abroad. Sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, NCDE offers free advice, referrals, and resources.

International Exchange Programs
Nearly 2000 alumni with and without disabilities from over 100 countries have participated in our short-term programs that promote sharing information, stories and strategies to find ways to make changes in the communities worldwide. As ‘change agents’, young leaders and professionals return home to create change on a personal level by developing self confidence, on a political level by developing a rights based attitude, and on a global level by networking with disability groups around the world.

International Development& Disability
From Timbuktu, Mali to Lima, Peru, Amman, Jordan and Hue, Vietnam, MIUSA’s trainings are changing the paradigm of international development, by framing the inclusion of people with disabilities as a human rights issue. By acting as a bridge between the international development community and the disability community, we provide training and technical assistance services on disability inclusion, partnering with disability-led NGOs, and conference presentations.

Women, Disability & Development
Empowerment of women is integral to who we are and what we do. MIUSA’s Women’s Institute on Leadership and Disability (WILD) programs bring together new and emerging grassroots women leaders with disabilities from around the world to build skills, exchange experiences and strategies, create new visions, and strengthen international networks of support to improve the lives of women and girls with disabilities. These “WILD Women” truly are changing the world.
