Disability Inclusion Session at CIEE Annual Conference

MIUSA will share best practices on placing and supporting students with disabilities on U.S. Department of State-sponsored youth programs at CIEE annual conference.

CIEE is committed to ensuring that its regional directors and local coordinators have the information they need to place and support international students with disabilities in U.S. host communities. MIUSA staff will travel to Orlando, Florida, to share best practices on disability inclusion at CIEE’s annual conference.

Topics for the training on February 11, 2016, will include:

  • Identifying Host Family and School Placements for Students with Disabilities
  • Learning Objectives of MIUSA’s Arrival Orientation for Sponsored Students with Disabilities
  • Including Students with Disabilities in Enhancement Activities
  • MIUSA’s Support Services and Online Resources

Additionally, a Youth Exchange and Study (YES) student who is blind will share her experience traveling from Turkey to live with a host family and attend a U.S. high school for an academic year.
