The National Clearinghouse on Disability and Exchange (NCDE) is rolling out an updated logo to build further recognition of our free resources which promote the participation of people with disabilities in international exchange between the U.S. and other countries.
Central to the logo is a graphic representation of a globe to represent NCDE’s role in supporting international exchange and its ability to connect people around the world. Radiating outwardly from either side of the globe are ripples to denote the ripple effect that can take place as a result of international exchange.
Look for the new logo on future NCDE publications, materials, and giveaways!
About the Designer: Abdul Haseeb
To develop the new logo, NCDE was fortunate to work with graphic designer Abdul Haseeb from Interpreting Sign World (ISW).
Abdul can attest to the lasting impact that international exchange has. Abdul, who is Deaf, first came to the United States from Pakistan in 2011-12 as a high school exchange student and youth ambassador as part of the U.S. Department of State’s prestigious Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program. While in the United States, he took his first computer design course and never looked back!
Upon returning to Pakistan he pursued graphic design studies in college and found internships and work with various firms. Abdul is currently working with Interpreting Sign World as a freelance artist who got involved through their Hire Deaf program, and he even designed ISW’s new logo! Check out Abdul’s design portfolio on the ISW website here.
“MIUSA played a pivotal role during my time in the United States on the State Department-funded YES program,” says Abdul. “They mentored me in Oregon. I’m honored to have had the chance to give back with a new logo.”
