Advancing disability rights and leadership globally®

We are pleased to announce that Mobility International USA (MIUSA), on the recommendation of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), has been granted Special Consultative Status to the United Nations.

“We are honored to receive this official recognition of all that our organization has achieved since our founding 33 years ago,” said Susan Sygall, CEO and co-founder of MIUSA.

“As MIUSA works to advance the rights and leadership of people with disabilities across the globe, special consultative status further enables us to bring the issues of disability inclusion and disability rights to the forefront of the international development agenda.”

Special Consultative Status entitles MIUSA to designate official representatives to participate in events, conferences and activities of the United Nations. MIUSA will be asked to serve as a consultative advisor and provide expert analysis based on our areas of expertise, and contribute to advancing United Nations goals and objectives in the field of disability rights and inclusion. MIUSA will also be able to directly submit written statements relevant to the work of the Council.

MIUSA looks forward to adding our expertise to this global dialogue in order to improve the lives of people with disabilities worldwide. Please join us in celebrating this important achievement in our organization's history.
